Ninety-Eight, going on Ninety-nine...

Mother, at 98 years, 03 months, and 25 days (circa Jan 2009), has reached that age when life stops giving "things". It's a time when existence begins taking every "thing" away. It is thus also, that time, when "Family" becomes (truly) EVERYTHING!

Me Thinks,

Sounds like it is the time for letting go. I hope your family does so with with both grace dignity.

True DIGNITY & GRACE (within a genuinely loving family) is to "be there". Selfish folk who "let go", generally are interested in themselves (and an inheritance). In light of your stance, we can presume that - when your turn at age comes along, your "people" will "let YOU go" - by leaving YOU to die alone. Visit any eldercare center, discover how many are "let go" as you suggest... Anonymous entries always cast a shadow of doubt upon the sender, me thinks.

You misunderstand me. By letting go I mean accepting the inevitable with dignity and grace from all sides and letting go with love. I did not mean neglect. I do not know you or your family, but I certainly hope that you are there for your loved one and are doing all you can with love.

I don't think attacking anyone, anonymous, or not is fair. You could have asked for clarification. I will not longer view your blog.

No apology? As a point of fact, you failed to express yourself clearly. To then project fault onto another is just what one might expect from an "Anonymous" critic. Say what you mean, and mean what you say (without being mean)...

For what it's worth, a 130-mile round-trip placed me and mine THERE for our elderly Mom (in person) just yesterday.

The "Comments" feature here is not a forum for learning how to express one's self clearly (with the distinctions of dignity)...

You have been rude.

Nevermind for, an "apology is politeness, too late", Me Thinks.

I know how tough it is Bobby.
I know when we went to see Mom, she really appreciated us bringing the dogs. In fact the whole facility did. I didn't think we were ever going to get to leave, because they enjoyed the animals so.
I agree with you 1000 percent.
If you are going to say something, say it clearly, but first introduce yourself.
Anonymous is another way of saying, I am a coward.
Best to all. Fores/Frosty
